about

When I was 14, I met a guy named Sal Caltabiano, who was 5 years older than I, and had a 4-track reel-to-reel recorder in his bedroom. We immediately connected. He played me this piano track he had, and said that he had no idea what to do with it. So I wrote the words and the melody, and we recorded it. It was the beginning of what was a really important musical relationship for me - and although we had a parting of the ways within 4 years of this recording - we reconnected way later in life. Sal gifted me with a digital copy of the original multitracks shortly before his death… the only things missing were the synth parts, which I have recreated as best as I can remember for this release. All other instrumental parts are Sal, from 1976 - who I miss terribly - and a 14-year-old me singing. (The original faded way earlier, but I couldn’t bear to cut him off.)

about

Mark Marshall Kingston, New York

Like the other areas of Mark’s life, the music he makes is chameleon-like: wildly diverse, meticulously crafted songs that range from radio-ready pop to hard rock, piano-driven ballads to soundtrack-ish instrumentals, futuristic funk-jazz to clubby techno dance.

“I just want people to feel something when they hear my music...To get as much joy and emotion from it as I felt when I was making it.”
