about

This song had probably the most bizarre inception of any I’ve ever written. Back in 2009, I was watching a movie called “The Final Cut” with Robin Williams… there’s a scene where he is about to enter a shop, and this big-band-y orchestra is just starting a swell (music by Brian Tyler) - and it cuts off fairly abruptly. I literally jumped up and said “I know just where that music was about to go!” - dashed into the studio and audio-jotted down the part of Lover, Please where the strings bend down at about the 30-second mark. It was off to the races from there. I initially had a guitar playing the solo part, and also tried a keyboard sax for it - but while I loved the part - it needed real AIR. Erik Lawrence to the rescue once again. Probably the most sultry thing I’ve ever written.

about

Mark Marshall Kingston, New York

Like the other areas of Mark’s life, the music he makes is chameleon-like: wildly diverse, meticulously crafted songs that range from radio-ready pop to hard rock, piano-driven ballads to soundtrack-ish instrumentals, futuristic funk-jazz to clubby techno dance.

“I just want people to feel something when they hear my music...To get as much joy and emotion from it as I felt when I was making it.”
