about

Once every 5 or 10 years, I have a recurring dream that I can fly. The moment the dream starts, I know it’s THAT dream, and am overjoyed… I take 4 or 5 running steps on a moonlit night, and I’m aloft. In the mid 80’s, my friend Dave Nitsche came to my apartment with a guitar, and said “I have this set of riffs, but don’t know what to do with them.” So I sat him down, made a couple of suggestions about structure, recorded his guitar from beginning to end, then wrote this over it.
A poignant note: Dave passed in early 2019. I still have the original recording, but the multitrack cassette was not nearly good enough quality to base a new recording on. But I did manage to grab one tiny bit of his playing and include it in the final - the little panning guitar hits starting at 1:50 are Dave.

about

Mark Marshall Kingston, New York

Like the other areas of Mark’s life, the music he makes is chameleon-like: wildly diverse, meticulously crafted songs that range from radio-ready pop to hard rock, piano-driven ballads to soundtrack-ish instrumentals, futuristic funk-jazz to clubby techno dance.

“I just want people to feel something when they hear my music...To get as much joy and emotion from it as I felt when I was making it.”
