about

"Merge" was originally released privately in 2002 - distributed only to friends on individually burned CDs.

From the original label notes:

"This disc is unique. Not mass-produced, and certainly not finished, it's a snapshot in time of works that I live with. Not done in a pro studio (obviously), these tracks weren't recorded to be commercial - in fact, they weren't recorded for anyone at all. They are borne of a need to create. There are probably only twenty or thirty copies of this disc in precisely this form. Truly a limited edition, though I can't say it'll garner any great premium for CD collectors.

While I am at heart a vocalist, lyrics don't come easy. Instrumentals always have for me, and in some ways, I've found a second voice through lead guitar. There's a helping of that here, with a few choice vocals, plus a bunch of both long and short-form instrumentals... I suppose part of me is a closet film composer at heart.

I hope you enjoy it."

And I do!

about

Mark Marshall Kingston, New York

Like the other areas of Mark’s life, the music he makes is chameleon-like: wildly diverse, meticulously crafted songs that range from radio-ready pop to hard rock, piano-driven ballads to soundtrack-ish instrumentals, futuristic funk-jazz to clubby techno dance.

“I just want people to feel something when they hear my music...To get as much joy and emotion from it as I felt when I was making it.”
